Going through a few more images that I photographed yesterday of a pretty cooperative black oystercatcher.
I wish there could have been just a bit more body turn here--but I was reluctant to move more to the right and risk loosing the opportunity altogether. Moving on the rocks stealthly at a low angle isn't easy! ;) These guys are very skittish.
This image gives a good look at the beak and different eye of the oystercatcher.

Here's a case where you made the very best image possible from where you stood: sharp, perfect EXP, good light angle, etc., but because of the rocks and the surf (being distracting) you had zero chance of making a great image...

Agree with Steve et.al. big time Bonnie - love the waves, rocks and seaweed. You've composed it just right to bring out the bird as the attention grabber. Great work.
