    Hmm, painterly effects... Well, this is a great theme! Here's a recent one from my front yard. Two mixer brushes and two textures applied.

    I like the colors and composition. It's very effective having the yellows and white on the right side echoing the colors of the goldfinch, and the lavender in the bottom right is a bonus. It's nice that the line of the bird points to the white flower. I think I'd like it better with the canvas texture subdued a bit, and the arc near the edge of the tree to the right of the goldfinch's head keeps grabbing my attention.

    Kerry, I like the overall composition a lot, as well as the lighter overall tones. Colors balance well with just enough vibrance in certain elements to keep the viewer's eye in the general subject area. I do find the some of the strokes used (the most visible) compete with the subject as they are similar in size. Again, nicely done!
