Very nice image Joel. Good detail in the feathers and nice and sharp. The Background is quite dark but I think it works well with this subject.

Once again I'm envious of anyone with a Pileated in their backyard. You're having a field day with this pair. Perfect pose and very nice perch. I like the dark green bg. Well done.

Looks nice and sharp and great pose and composition. The whole image is underexposed for my taste. If the reason is to tame the reds, that can be done in other ways.

Reds look a bit "hot".... otherwise... superb! Love the dark BG and detail of the dark feathers is excellent. (I need to go out a sit in my backyard... Pileated's are a common backyard bird here!) The "white" feathers are perfect for this time of year.... they always look "dirty" when they are in nesting/feeding mode. OK... I LOVE this image!

I'm really glad you DIDN't use flash here. The shadows are just right and make everything feel so 3d. Nice image.
