TC 2XIII or TC 2XII for a 600f/4 I?
Hello every one.
I was reading that the new 2X III TC was made especially for the newer Canon lenses but I have been using a 1.4TC III with my 600f/4 I and I hope I am not loosing IQ and instead I am gaining with this combo.
Since I don't own a 2X converter I would like to know before I buy it, if it is better to buy the III or II version.
Thanks in advance for your help.

The new version III TCs do work better with the newer lenses. Not necessarily better IQ, but I believe AF speed is improved.
Using a ver. III TC on a ver. I lens will not adversely affect you.
I'd buy the version IIIs since you may want to eventually upgrade your lens.

You def. don't lose anything by using the newer convertors.
The 2X III is much better than 2X II optically regardless of the lens/camera used. The old one wasn't that sharp wide open and had some CA, the new one is sharp even wide open with less CA.
to take advantage of the AF micro controller inside the MKIII TC's, however you need to have 1) series II super telephoto 2) 1DX or 5D3 body
good luck

Many thanks to Kester and Arash for your valuable comments. I will then buy the newer TC!

Juan, for once it is a good investment, the MKII was pants, I have no hesitation in using it!
