This is the male but the female is equally attractive IMO.
Will post one image of her next.

A stunning beauty, Karl. Excellent IQ and detail. Like the narrow perch and head position.

Karl it looks like you had one of those perfect days!
The light here really helped you to get some nice exposure on both blacks and whites, even those reds have enough details. Love the clarity and clean BG.

Great looking portrait, Karl. Since joining this forum, it has surprised me just how many 5D's are being used for bird photography, I suppose it's a case of image quality over reach.

Thanks, Andy. I think it's the case. I sold my 7D and replaced it with a 5DM3. I call it jokingly; the poor people's 1DX. I also kept the 1DM4.

I Karl, this is so pretty it hurts. I spent several hours in a hide last week waiting for one of these. None landed on my perch. Beautiful image of a gorgeous species.

What Sidharth said! So nice to see the eye so clearly in a dark head. Beautifully handled tonalities, sharp and a stunning pose!

Perfect Karl... HA, perch, pose lovely feather detail...nicely set off by a very complementary BG. (I like the "girls" too... ) So wonderful that they spend a few months with us "up north"!
