    Default Warthog - at home

These guys are real characters and very feisty, as lot of you already know, taking on lions & WD's and winning!!!

Taken towards the later part of the afternoon, this guy just laid there and watched me, watching him parked at the site of an old termite mound.

    Cheers
    Steve

Hi Steve - Looks good and I like the inclusion of the termite mound for a sense of habitat. The comp works well with the wh slightly off center. I'm surprised he stayed put for you. Details look good. You got away with one on the ss but sharpness looks fine.

Hi Steve looks like a character this guy.
Good that you got him just looking out of the den.
As you know looking on a mobile , overall i like the tone and color .On my screen the subject does appear a tad too sharp .
Great low POV which i always like, i am like you at that point.
With hindsight i would have said move to the right to get a more even BKG. .

He is cute, Steve! This works for me and I cannot think of anything to nit-pick as much as I would like to. Love the hairdo of the subject and his "docile" look, despite the species' reputation!

Have you ever seen them eating grass and kneeling while they do so? We had some tame ones at a place called False Bay nearby, used to go for a picnic there by the lake and these chaps were so tame, they would lie on the grass next to our picnic blanket and no one ever got hurt. But then again, no one ever fed them so they never saw us as a source of food...

Lovely capture Steve, well processed and presented as always!

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Steve, this is the scene that my wife Adele was hoping to see, but we never saw one. Great detail and sharpness with good tonal range on the warthog. Comp is difficult with the termite, but this is the habitat. Nice low angle view. Loi

Cool capture Steve. Seems a bit more "gritty"/"sooty" than your normal posts, though?
With no real horizon to speak of, I'd have liked the eyes to "line up"...

    Hi Steve

Gabriella, cute is not the word... gorgeous is the word...!! So what are the lumps sticking out from the head, something big it ate but did now swallow..? anyway Steve I like this, it indeed has character oozing ever where. I do agree its very close to 'too sharp'..

    Best regards
    DON

Gorgeous indeed, Don! Err...lumps? Nope, they are warts! Therefore the name: Hogwarts. Err...I meant Warthogs...

Morkel, have been away for the last 12 days and accesses this remotely, changed my mind on the crop and so had to do the sharpening on the laptop, which I never like to do as the screen isn't that great compared to the nice big Eizo ones.
