I like having him small in the frame, with some attractive fg and bg. Very nice pose on top of his hill. Don't know if it's possible to eke just a bit more sharpness out of the bird?

    Hi Bill

I have sharpened the bird a little.

That makes him pop out better. I could imagine somewhere in between. But getting sharpness just right is a bete noire for me.

I understand where you are coming from Bill. I have, up until recently, used a cropped sensor 7D. I am now continually using my 5D Mkiii and find it a lot better especially when using it with the 2xTC. I am still practising my distance from the target whilst using the full frame

Must say that I prefer the original. To me a more natural look.
Only saw a Wheatear once about 1960 on Arthur's Seat. Pleasant memories.

Hi William, I like to see something of the environment so am not averse to this crop however I think you could still show enough with a little tighter crop. It looks like you have enough feather detail to crop 10% tighter, plus a little sharpening, but be careful. Regards, Ian
