    Default Tommie turmoil!

    Attached Images Attached Images

A cheetah mother and her sub-adult son (out of frame on RHS) in hot pursuit of Thompson's gazelle, mum was successful in bringing down the tommie on the far left of image,
I love the panic & mayhem of this event portrayed in the leaping Tommie.
I missed the actual take-down as she went down a small gully in a cloud of dust. But a great event to document.
    Ndutu- Nth Tanzania.

Nikon D4 500 f/4 VRII 1/3200s f/5.6 ISO1600. Considering the large crop of around +40%, the quality has held up reasonably well, but submitted more for a documentary pov, rather than overall quality of image.

    C & C most welcome

I'm off to Florida/US tonight, fishing for Tarpon in the salt and Bass in the fresh for 2 weeks, see you then.

Hi Marc - What a great sighting! I love the flying tommy. I agree with your self-assessment and of course, would have preferred more of the cheetah head visible (as I'm sure you would too). As posted the image feels a little thin, I would give it a bit of a boost through curves. There's also a slight cyan cast to the whites of the tommies which I would reduce. I know this is already a large crop but I would also consider less below. Have a great fishing trip.

    TFS,
    Rachel

I like it, seeing the hunt from the tommy perspective rather than the cheetahs. Works for me.

    Hi Marc

Love the mayhem, the gazelle are just focussing on getting away, not a glance back.

I know how difficult it is to get the specs spot on in split second action, well done here.

Agree with Rachel regarding the whites on the tommies.

Bit of noise on bushes in FG, maybe due to large crop or sharpening? D4 should handle 1600?

Love the action and framing here Marc. I think the colour could use some more tweaking? Luminosity could also go down a notch or 2 overall?
I'd like to have a crack at processing this one as I feel at ISO-1600 and 40% crop it should look better? Perhaps I need to see the one on 500px first.

You have captured the story perfectly, the front deer in the spring is fantastic depicts the event perfectly.
    I love it

    Thanks Morkel

Can't compare the two, the BPN posting looks poor compared to 500px quality.
