This male gartered trogon (formerly known as violaceous trogon) was working hard at at termite nest.
No! they donīt feed on termites but instead they use a termite nest to build their nest. Well, they not only use a termite nest but apparently they like termiteīs homes very much!

I used my 600 and a 1.4 TC (840mm) so I could stay far back and would not disturb the bird with my presence. Female was close by but she was not so happy to see me there so she stayed up in a branch and only allowed me to shoot a couple decent images of her.

    For this one I used

    840mm@f/8+1D4+tripod+ISO800+SS1/200sec.+DPP+PS for resizing and sharpnening.

    Thanks for looking.

Nice one Juan Carlos. Thanks for the back-story and natural history details which provide context for the image. All looks good to me.

This is the first time I have seen this species, and what a handsome bird it is, the iridescent colours are just beautiful. Along with your write-up the image really tells a story. Thanks for posting it.

Great shot of this beauty. Good catch on the nest, with nice pose. You were able to get very nice light and decent POV considering the usual forest setting of these guys.
