    I made a trip to Bombay Hook to try and find these beauties that nest on the property. I found two pair, only one male was at all cooperative. Thanks for looking and for any suggestions.

    1/800, f6.3, ISO400
    1DMk2n, 500 + 1.4tc + blubb (What a great product!)

    Great find, eye contact and BG. I might have stopped down a bit to have the feet in focus, too. Where is Bombay Hook?

    Thank you Axel. I was having trouble getting the bg that I wanted, when I stopped down. Perhaps a compromise. (I have others!) Bombay Hook is a huge National Wildlife area in Delaware, near Dover. Mostly tidal salt marsh, some fresh water ponds, and upland fields which is where this beauty was feeding (and perhaps nesting) Lots of diversity...difficult shooting conditions.

    Cropping some top and left would make the comp more interesting. Although the bird looks properly focussed I would apply another light round of USM. Great looking bird!
