I recently bought the Canon 2X TC III extender upon advice of our esteemed BPN members to use with my 500 mm II lens and 5DIII body. I am very pleased with the results so far. The AF is fairly quick with 5D3 and the combo is quiet sharp for my needs. I would like to thank all who helped me make thous decision. My 7D had taken a back seat as of now.Av ƒ/8.0 FL 1000.0 mm SS 1/1250 ISO 1600

Interesting bird. Nice and sharp on the eye where it matters most. Nice comp, and unusual bg color.

Good IQ on the subject, and you got a nice perch and BG. Although I'm OK with the leaf merging with the tail I'm not as happy about the bill merging with the perch...for that reason I do wish the bird had looked the other way (I usually do not like the bird looking into the perch like this, just a personal opinion). Glad you like the 2X TC with the 5DIII...looks like a solid combo.

Beautiful feather detail and that super smooth BG is very nice indeed. Super image, Sanjeev.

Nicely done and I agree with Dan's wish. Love the BKGR. Try to use the 2X at f/9 or f/10 for best results.

Thanks everyone. Artie, I shall use f/9 - f/10 where possible. Thanks for the tip.

You are most welcome. When the birds are near MFD you might consider f/11 or f/13 or smaller even if it means going to a higher ISO.
