This guy decided to strut around my hide clucking and calling almost asking to have his picture taken so of course I obliged, pity the other birds trying to come to my feeder/pool where not so keen on him.
Did think about a tighter crop but like the breast feathers so decided to keep it at this.

Thanks for having a look and the comments on my last post.

    Cheers Keith.

Hi Keith, these are great subjects to photograph as they are so colourful and have a lovely sheen to the overall plumage, coupled with the iridescent neck coloration. Good time to grey out & about as they seem to be displaying well. A bit more ISO to gain more SS I feel on this one, even adding some USM doesn't really help IMHO sadly. Just watch the red side 'bits' a lot of people 'choke' them with colour/saturation, losing the detail, not the case on this though. I quite like the square format, but if the IQ could hold up, I might go tighter, or just drop the crop down a bit more, personally I think there is a wee bit too much above????

    Hope to see more.

Hi Keith - what great colors and a in your face pose. I agree with Steve on needing a little more ss and sharpness but still a fun image to see.

Quite in-your-face for sure!! Lovely colours. I agree there is a bit much above, but another way to help with that is to add more below if you have it. I'd also consider smoothing out the oof line in the BG, and try if another round of sharpening for web presentation will help give more "crispness" to the details. An awesome opportunity you had here, and I agree it is a fun image!

Hi Keith, what colours havent you managed to capture on this fellow. Great eye contact. Im fine with the space above, but as you have cut some off on the LHS, I would cut some more off to maybe create a vertical.

Very nice shot! Love the colors! I so agree with the above comments about another round of sharpening. TFS
