    Dipper.
Managed to find a pair nesting about 500 yards from the house. Didn't know it was there !!
I wanted to get some enviromental stuff but the site is just not right. I only did them coming in towards the nest quite a way off but I couldn;t get the water effect I wanted,
Also by mistake I some how got the camera on auto ISO and ended up with stuff at 2600 ISO ! I must read the book I always have the D7100 on A priority so does auto ISO take over from shutter speed ???
I will read the book !
Theres still time but the young arequite big but I think there are only two.

Gorgeous John....detail, pose, light and background all are wonderful. Worm in the mouth is a big plus too! Well done, it really "pops".

John, thanks for sharing your Dipper from across the pond. Ours from the western US are similar, but a solid dark grey. I think the bg habitat nicely tells us where the little one lives. The pose and lunch in the beak are a plus. On my monitor, the feather detail appears a bit soft.

Yes Gary no prizes in the sharp competition with this one !( Or the other 200 pics I got ! ) The accidental 2000 iso hasn't helped. The bigma will never be as good as the 300mm but the birds were just too far away as I didn't want to get too close to the nest.
I might try again today with 300 and a 1.4
    Thanks for looking

Overall it is a very pleasing image. Very good pose, and of course the meal in the bill is a nice touch. Good perch. Perhaps a bit less at left would work composition-wise. I'm certain a bit more sharpening after resizing will work well for web. I think the water looks great here, so even if it is not what you were going for it looks quite nice.

    Thanks
Daniel- Just come back from another session so I,ll know if it was the iso causing the problems.
    Cheers
