    Default Yellow-crowned Night Heron

Juvenile Yellow-crowned Night Heron from this past week with a small crab it just picked up at the edge of the marsh.

Interesting behaviour here and fantastic eye. Great detail in the beak as well. I'd give some more room around the bird, especially below and in in front

I like the prey item, overall a bit too big in the frame and I wish you had more DOF. please state the lens/body used for better feedback.

Thank you for your reply and glad you liked this shot of the youngster with his catch. Good thoughts about possibly showing more room around the bird but this was full frame as shown, no cropping at all. This guy was right on top of me with me having a 420 up. (300 f4 with 1.4 attached)

I appreciate you looking and commenting, thanks. This was a quick grab shot and it's full frame as shown, no cropping at all. I don't mind the DOF as it is because I feel the main area of interest is the eye, and bill with catch. Having things so softer down the bird's neck retains this interest I feel. But I wouldn't have had time to change settings anyway as this bird was right next to me for mere seconds with a 420 on. (300 f4 with a 1.4 attached on a Canon 7D)
