This fella gave me good opportunities so here's another image of it. When it first landed on the perch it rested on the vertical part of it then slowly climbed it up the part the catkins were on (in the previous post a few days ago).

Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/800s., f/8, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, small crop for comp (about 85%FF), eye work, toned down the whites of the throat. Audio used.

Nice one Daniel. With the contrasting colours on these the white throat would be a pain (ITA) Bit like one of our Redstarts. With HDL in cameras these days its so much better. I,ve started using the in camera adjustments in that respect.
Anyway - good stuff ! Looks a bit "flashy" but just the light.
Our Swallows have just arrived over the garden here.
    Cheers

Such subtle colors and the light is just right. Lovely shot, sweet bird.

Beautiful image Daniel, love the shimmer on the wings and the quality of the image. Difficult to get exposure right here and you nailed it. TFS

Hi Dan, sweet image, love the way the subjects body mimics the curve of the branch. Killer BKG, really sets off the subject well. Whites look spot on, with nice subtle detail to accompany the iridescent plumage. great shooting angle, side on with a perfect HA, would not expect anything else.

Love the colors, as others have said spot on exposure. A bird I have only seen flying, little rockets in flight.

Your hand-held shots in the field are inspirational. I have learned a great deal from looking at your work. This is another great example.

    Daniel:

Very well captured, but was most struck by the curving lines mentioned by Steve already. Very pleasing composition.

Nice background, so much better than a blue one. Excellent pose and detail. Exposure is spot on. Great work, Daniel.
