The new 80-400 AF-S is a great lens and lends itself well to pan blurs, love the rippling muscles on this male.

    D3s 80-400 AF-S 1/20s f/20 ISO 160@ 250mm. 20% crop. processed in PS CC/ B&W conv.

    Cheers

Marc, a great action shot but it definitely needs CCW rotation so the streaks are parallel to the framing IMO.

Marc, love the pan blur here. May be taking a little bit off the bottom in a 16:9 ratio to emphasize the direction of running. In an ideal world, would wish for a better head angle. TFS. Loi

That's the first thing that caught my eye as well Colin, however upon straightening it wasn't suitable to my eye at least as the BG not being straight was even more noticeable. My OP was actually level, it was my panning that was a little out.

RP here, so you can see the dilemma, my preference was my OP.

Yes could go either way on the 16:9 crop suggestion, the HA was parrallel to the focal plane so looked good from that point, perhaps you mean for a better approaching HA??

Hi Marc - I actually prefer your rp. For me the op has a feeling that the wilde could tip head over heels and in the rp it looks more balanced. Given that the bg isn't really recognizable due to the amount of blur, for me it doesn't matter that the blue isn't straight. I like the conversion here and am not sure that I've seen any toned, pan blurs. I really like the hint of the legs and the movement there. It does seem like the wilde was just past you but a small point given how difficult it can be to get these right.

    TFS,
    Rachel

Hey Marc , nice job in all terms, very well done .
    OP for me.
Only little nit is that the wilde best had already past you , next time tell the driver to speed up, LOL.

Fine piece of panning here, Marc, and the conversion works well. Repost for me

    Hi Marc

Still have to try my hand at panning, want to try before every trip, but never get to do it

For me the OP, it creates the feel that the wildebeest is bobbing in a sea of grass.

    Nice one.

During the hotter part of the day/midday when lighting cond's and action is limited, is a good time to practice.

    Hello Marc,

My vote goes to the OP, I am afraid...

To me the RP somehow slows down that speed I so love in the original processed image.

Great work Marc, I really like this, makes me want to try my hand at panning when I get a chance

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea
