good exposure (clouds helped) and I like the different species in one frame here. I wish there was some interaction between the birds or some other element to make a better connection with the viewer/ add more interest. It is difficult to make an effective "birdscape" shot.

Arash, good points and I agree which is why I will keep trying at this. I am trying to create images different then what one can get with long len's and would never be able to do approaching birds on foot.

Interesting bird scape. Composition wise it is not the best as all or almost all the birds are looking out of the frame and sort of pulling it apart.
I know it is very hard.
I won't even attempt to try it as I know I would not succeed.
Keep working on it, you will have great shots if this style eventually.

While the photo isn't particularly great, I believe you are headed for great things with this technique! Pretty exciting stuff!

Doug, Dan, thanks for the encouragement. I am still sorting out contraption itself bugs and getting the hang of composing from afar even though I have a live feed, sneaking up on the birds without spooking them, figuring out which exposure settings, focal length works best to pre-set the camera at, etc. I have a couple decent ones so far but nothing stellar yet which I might post in a few days.

Nice wide angle shot and it seems like that location will be a great place to get some great wide angle shots! Looking forward to see more.

love this composite from your unique contraption....and easy on the birds as they seem quite at home with "your" presence. It puts me right in the middle of them at that moment and I need little more from this unique perspective. Looking forward to more!

I totally agree you are onto something. Once you get the kinks out and really learn how best to work Rocky, you area going to come home with some keepers and probably winners. I have a feeling I could do the military crawl in my sand camo right up close to Rocky without scaring the birds.
