Default Quetzal and prey for babies!

    Attached Images Attached Images

I recently drove to Talamanca cordillera looking for owls but I found this guy. I am not complaining as he even posed on a nice perch. It was on the way to the nest cavity and was carrying a dead caterpillar. I wonder how
can they find a caterpillar there in that green forest! I've never seen a caterpillar at that altitud, well perhaps that's why I am not a quetzal

    For this one I used:

1D4+600f/f4@f/5+ISO2000+SS1/100sec.+Tripod+almost FF.+LR+Sharpened and resized in PS.

    Thanks for looking.

Great shot, Juan Carlos. Very nice composition and the food item in the beak is a definite interest. I think it was a good trade for Owl.

How cool! I love all the elongated lines, including the prey item! Great comp, colours, perch. A great trade off for an owl I'd say...

Glad you pushed that ISO a bit. Image looks clean and well exposed in what I assume was low light under the canopy of the rainforest. Great to see him wide in the open too, as I hear it doesn't happen that often

For this long tail you need that format ... excellent because i saw many pictures where the tail doesnt fit in the frame

Eh, great birds you have there. Very nice pose, BG and composition, the caterpillar is a cherry on a top :)

Hi JC, I only have a few Owl images, but I will take this any day to an Owl image. Great comp, and just love the curvature of the tail. Nicely perched in the open, and the food for the kids a bonus. Cool BG.

Very nice capture and I have never seen one with a prey item in its beak so very well done there. A very nice frame with a nice comp also.
