Hi guys - many apologies for my absence over the last few months. I see that you have all been very busy uploading amazing photos and I will work through and add comments to as many as I can. I guess the older ones have been mostly resolved so I'll start with the more recent ones.

I've been away because my girlfriend just gave birth to our daughter. I've written a bit about her here http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...98-Sukey-Selfe . So it's been a busy time but we are enjoying her a lot and getting used to looking after a tiny baby - she's 10 weeks old now!

Anyway, the light and colours in Luangwa are stunning this time of year, and I wanted to start back with an simple photo of an elephant bull.

    Canon 1D4, 500mm, f4, ISO 1600, 1/1250sec.

Many thanks for comments etc, and look out for my comments coming soon.

    Ed

PS - my internet access this year is a lot more patchy than before so I might not be so quick with replies and comments.

Hi Ed, nice to have you back, great opening shot. Sorry not to have hooked up on your return, over here guess both of us had our hands full.

Cracking detail for f/4, love the raised, offset trunk and swishing tail. Being slightly overcast has help, personally might loose some off the top, but no deal breaker.

    Appreciate responding to other threads.

Hi Ed - First, congrats on the birth of your daughter. As I said in the thread in Friends & Family, she is adorable. I agree with Steve, great image to return with. Excellent posture of the ele with ears out, raised leg, curled trunk and visible tail. Nice pov and detail. It all works for me.

    TFS,
    Rachel

Very nice head-on walking pose, looks like a massive individual! Love the light, and the details are very good. The bright spot above does draw my eye though...
