Taken in Nagarahole National Park, Karnataka, India. Had a split second to get this fairly clear shot as the squirrel raced around the tree canopies.

Hi Colin, a tricky subject to achieve a good image of high in the canopy, especially with this kind of BKG, a lot going on, shame you could not have coaxed it down. Good to see you upping that ISO here.

Firstly I would suggest a 16 x 9 crop, loosing a portion of image above the subject, then applying some more selective sharpening to the subject, it can take it . I like the colouring and two tone tail. BTW, just be careful with S/H, it's powerful!

Colin it must have been a difficult shot to get, would be nice to get it a bit lower but hey! that's wildlife photography.

Hi Colin - I haven't seen this species before so thanks. It does look like it was tough conditions to get a good image with a busy background, a dark subject, a brighter sky and a difficult shooting angle. Good crop suggestion by Steve. Hopefully, you'll have other opportunities with the species.

    Rachel

    Collin,

Very nice job high ISO. Tough conditions I guess you handled it very well.
    Steve covered it very well.

Thanks for the comments and tips. I've cropped to 16x9, selectively darkened the bg a bit and brought out a bit more body color with a touch of S&H. Selectively sharpened the animal. Steve, even an experienced Squirrel Whisperer would have been defeated by this fellow. It was literally sprinting through the canopy and not the slightest bit curious about us below.
