    Default Mute swan

An elegant swan that glided past me earlier today whilst I was researching Kingfisher locations. It seemed rude not to take a few shots.

    Canon 1d3, 400mm f5.6L
ISO 400 (should have gone a little lower)
    1/3200th f5.6
Just a little cropped off the top
Blues de-saturated so the ring on the leg 'disappears'

Nice eye contact, good handling of the whites. The tight crop and reflection works fine for me. Well done.

He is handsome and he knows it! I like the pose and the exposure is equally good, one of those black backgrounds that suits the subject.

Love this stunning bird against a black BG. I may have preferred a horizontal without as much reflection but not really sure without seeing it.

Cheers Marina, here's one from a few moments earlier, any better?

Apologies, only meant to post one image - put the wrong one up first now can't delete it - and after all that I think I prefer the original because of the lack of shadow on the neck!

Original for me! Beautiful juxtaposition between wings and head.... great detail in the whites... perfect reflection. As you said.... lack of shadow on OP is much better.
