Default Windy Day on the Jetty

Dunlin, from a visit to Barnegat a month ago. A flock of 50 or so were all huddled together with their heads buried. It took some maneuvering on the rocks to isolate one from the group without spooking the whole bunch. C&C appreciated.

    Bill:

Good shooting angle, ruffled feathers from the wind, comp. I might try lightening the eye/head just a bit.

Would also consider softening the dark area below the body.

    Cheers

Other than the dark spot below, everything looks great, Bill. What species?

Thanks Karl. It's a Dunlin -- I'm guessing a rather worn one judging from the feather tips -- although I agree it's hard to tell the species without being able to see the bill.

Thanks folks. Here's a repost with some work done on the dark area and the face.

    Bill:

The repost works better for me, although there a couple of small black areas along the rump, possibly from masking?

    Cheers

Oops. How did I miss that? Haste makes waste. I'll go back and fix it. Thanks.

Hi Bill, we can certainly see from which way the wind was blowing - great show of the wind swept plumage. Your repost has turned out well.

Great resting stance you captured, Bill. Still keeping an eye on you. Like the repost.

I like the repost, too. The wind in the plumage is great. Wonderful details and eye contact.

Very nice shot Bill of a resting Dunlin on the jetty. I like the detail in the wind-blown feathers, but most of all how you caught the Dunlin with its eye open. I can just imagine how it was pivoting back in forth in the wind on one leg.
