    Default Baby Barred Owl

Baby barred owl was being brave, getting to the edge of the nest several. This image was taken when David Salem, Doug and Kristin Brown were in town. Shot with all of them, Marina and Amy. It was nice to finally meet David and Kristin Brown. I was standing to the right side of Doug, I cropped tighter to avoid the little vegetation on the lower left. I ran BG NR and toned down the bright spot in the green are of the BG to the right of the baby's head. Discussion about the FAML vs Maximizing the ambient light was very useful. Dinner was fun.
    1Dx, 600mm II plus 1.4TC III, f/125. f/5.6, ISO4000, Fill Flash (E-TTL, at -3EV), Manual.

That was a great evening shooting with all you Floridians and a fun dinner afterwards. Glad we all got to meet, shoot, and have a few laughs. Look forward to my next years trip already.
Nice capture of this little puff ball and I really like the nest cavity that they chose. Very photogenic. The techs look great and the detail and fill flash looks perfect too. Nice work Troy.

That was a great evening, and you've got a nice image from our shoot. Great perch, nice balance of ambient exposure and flash, and a cute bird.

    Nice balanced shot Troy
Over here, if you snap owls with FLASH ! you are condemned to a life of blurred postings and abuse from the purists.. Joking apart - flash on nocturnals is frowned upon. I did it for years . We had no other choice. Times change.
    Cheers

Very nice love the eye contact.Think it would be even better had the green BG extended all the way to the left.

The darker BG was a palm tree. There is limited shoot angle at the nest, the BG is as is, not much I could do about it.

John, too bad that it is not allowed here. If it were illegal here, I would not have done it.
