This is a long way from being a perfect photograph but you don't get to photograph these beauitful birds often and I thought it may be of interest. Hope it is.

Thats a great looking bird Richard. Nice comp and I like the half detail in the back. Just that dark bit behind the beak is a shame but no biggie.
    Cheers

Beautiful little bird is right, and one I have never seen. The pose looks great and the eye contact is right at us. Too bad the bird isn't in the sun or the shade. The BG is pretty busy also but what can you do when you see a unique bird jump in front of you. Maybe you can open up the blacks as they are pretty blocked. Go back and camp out in this spot and see if you can get a better one. Good luck

Richard BG's are what they are, that is a super looking little bird that you have caught very well, nice shot.

Richard, beautiful bird indeed. You got good suggestions from the above. Opening up the black would help. If you have the IQ, I'd suggest considering cropping a bit tighter. Loi

This is a great looking bird. I bet it is small! Nice pose, good sharpness and yes, the broken branch is less than ideal but I thanks you for sharing this one as is one new bird species for me!

Thanks so much for the comments everyone. I will look to bring more out of the blacks, thanks David and then try again when I get back to northern KwaZulu Natal.

Excellent image of beautiful bird. Did you try vertical composition for this pose?

Lovely shot of this rare beauty. You need to visit Zimanga if you want to photograph them at your heart's content
