Hi Everyone,
We have been seeing a lot of these guys passing through this year so far. It is an exciting event for us as they are pretty much extinct on Vancouver Island. Mountain bluebirds are only seen for about a week in April when they migrate to their nesting areas. This image captured at Nanaimo River Estuary yesterday.
Lovely image Steve! I click on the post just to see this blue against blue image! I would love to see another version with the bird a bit more off from the center (more to the right) and with the out of focus branch on the foreground cloned out as well as the one sticking out from the bird's belly ;). Im at work right now, otherwise I would had tried at home to see the difference?
Hi Raybel,
Here is a remake. Although I agree that it makes the image a bit cleaner, I think that the branch gives is a bit more depth and tends to anchor it in 3d space. His chest is definetly cleaner with the leaf removed though.
Nice blue-on-blue image. This is one of those birds that I would love to see some day! Really cool bird, pose not ideal but what can you do? Nice perch also.
