    Greetings,
Many thanks to the moderators and contributors of this great forum.
I'm fairly new to bird photography having started just under a year ago. We have some fairly nice urban wildlife areas here in the Seattle, WA area that present good opportunities for image making.
My first submission is of a Double-crested Cormorant. I tried to crop out some of the distractions from the shot including a bit off the top of the OOF background, but the other birds in the part of the foreground were unavoidable without cutting off part of the subject.
I probably could have worked a little harder in PP to bring out more detail in the dark area of the bird.

Thanks for your time and help,
    Jay

Hmm, I can see the thumbnail but not the picture. Did you follow these instructions: http://birdphotographers.net/forums/...read.php?t=937 ?

    Hi Jay and welcome.

You have a wonderful light here, the composition works but it could be cropped a bit from the right side of the frame. Whatever it is in the foreground is a huge distraction to your main subject. The other birds in the water almost look like rocks so that's not such a negative impact in your image. Overall a very warm and pleasant image with few things to keep in mind for the next time.

Hi, Jay! Welcome! Is it possible to see the technical information used in making this image?
