This was taken in February at Costa Rica. This heron was hanging around the pool and gardens. It was amazing to see the amount of lizards it could eat in a couple of hours. All C&Cs are welcome and appreciated.

I like it. Beautiful color and pattern, I wish it were here to photograph and capture.

Good one, Jim. What a cool bird. I've never been able to get very close to one. Great detail, comp, background.

Great looking portrait Jim. Fantastic detail and color in this one and I like the raised crest and the green BG sets it off nicely. Well done. Looks like you had a good trip with lots of different species!

This heron is on my bucket list.
I love the way the vegetation in the BG seems to splay out above the beak.
IQ is excellent and the feather detail is topnotch. The raised crest and layered throat feathers are also very eye catching.
    Well done,

Hey Jim so glad you had a great time while shooting this BTTH!
Love the nice sharpness, cool pose and your choice of crop. I do believe it deserves some extra saturation boost to bring the nice oranges and the yellow on the throat. I would also suggest to run some NR on BG.
