    Default Snowy Owl Fly-by

I know it is the end of the season and there have been a lot of Snowy Owl images, but I wanted to share mine. (I have been without Internet service for several months and am finally able to upload photos again.) This one was taken in central Minnesota the last week of February with Mike Lentz and Harsha J. I got a lot of nice shots that morning sitting in waist-deep snow at -4 degrees F and a 15MPH wind blowing, with a very cooperative owl.

    Canon EOS-1D Mark IV
    500MM, f/4, 1/8000, ISO 400, cropped
    Handheld
The owl was rewarded with a warm mouse for his efforts

Gossamer, floating, ethereal come to mind. A wonderful image. Well worth freezing whatever off for this one.

Super flight image, Bruce. Like that we can see most of the beautiful features, including a talon or so. Excellent head turn(eye contact), exposure, and detail.

Very nice pose, well exposed, and good variation to the snowy BG. A bit more room at left would work well IMO. I would also apply an additional round of sharpening for web presentation. SUper well done, glad you got in on the Snowy Owl fun this winter...

Thanks for the comments everyone. Daniel, thanks for the suggestions. I'll tweak the sharpening.
