    Default Buff-tailed Coronet (Ecuador)

Hummingbirds must be some of the most beautiful birds that I have seen. They are so varied, colourful (at times!) and they also come in diffrent sizes, some with short straight bills, others with super long upturned bills.

This coronet stayed still enough time so that I was able to make a few shots of him. Making sharp images of this tiny fellas is not easy at times as they are quite active and territorial.

    For this one I used:

1D4+600f/4@f/6.3+ISO1600+Shutter speed1/25sec. (shooting in the rainforest can really test your lens holding technique despite the use of a sturdy tripod and IS!)+I believe I used a 25mm extension tube.
LR+Sharpened and resized in PS CS6+almost FF.

    Thanks for looking.

    Juan,

Another tropical beauty! The colors are just the right amount of saturated for my taste. Not sure I'd change a thing.

Ooh, very nice! One of your stronger images of late. I like the bit of vegetation that you kept in there in URC (I actually wish there was more!). Very good details, perfect HA.

A stunning image Juan. I must admit when I first looked I was not sure about the top right hand corner but on looking again it adds to an already great image IMO.

One of your better offerings Juan Carlos. Great detail and exposure and the smooth BG sets this little beauty off nicely. Well done.
