    Default Great Horned Owl Family

I have to thank Forum Contributor David Cramer for showing me this nest site. A complete family of GHOs, although dad isn't in this picture. Very difficult exposure, as you'll see by the specs below, but the Mark III does an amazing job at high ISO.

    Canon 1D Mark III, 700mm, f/5.6, 1/160, ISO 2000, +1 EV, no flash, monopod

Oh my they are really cute. I would love to get a shot of them one day. That markIII definitely paid off with this shot. Great framing job.

    Hi Doug,

What a lovely image and feel. They look very scared and the cave really adds to the "trap" feel to it.

    Thank you for sharing!

I enjoyed the outing with you, Doug. Nice work on a very difficult exposure with the darkened nest area. Next time we will get some flight shots.

Great setting and I like the inquisitive looks. I might darken the pupils of the adult bird.

Love the framing, you might darken the forground a little to draw the viewer into the owls. Nice shot
