Lacking a bit of image quality - especially around the head,- but I liked the way the bird stood out from the dark background. Not planned- just turned out that way.

John this is such a cute and colourful bird!
You got some great soft light here, excellent eye contact and sharpness. Thanks for sharing.

Nice John! Beautiful colors on the bird!

Pitch blacks are always difficult on birds for some reason. I must have taken at least 100 photo's of long-tailed widowbirds in our area (perched and in flight) and I still have to find one I'm 100% happy with!

Good shot John, I'm not sure how much more you could have squeezed out of the shot. It has accurate colours all over the bully and the background colour complement the bird nicely

I really like this John. A bird I very rarely see. One of the few images I have seen of this bird that really show off how smart they are and the depth of colour in the background finish it off perfectly.

Lovely image John. Like how he stands out and really like the BG created by the leaves. (It may just be my monitor but you could possibly do a little more noise reduction to the BG). TFS

Thanks guys. Richard- I think you're right. The back was really noisy and I think it had two rounds of NR. I 'll give it a dollop more later.

What a gorgeous bird, John, with lovely details and pose. The most amazing part is how well it blends in with its BG.

Another lovely shot of this guy, John. I particularly like the way the BG picks up the color of the bird.

Thanks all. Tempting fate I would say that as there are no comments about colour casts or brightness etc ,etc, it means my monitor etc must be not far off. I will be a good boy and stop messing with it !!
    Thanks again.
