Lowepro ProTrekker 300AW opinions ?
Hello. Does anyone use this bag ?
What's your opinion for day hikes with this bag ?
I like the option of having the removable waistbelt.
And about airlines ? Did someone ever have a problem with this backpack ?
I'll fly AA.
Thank you.

I use the 400AW as my main bag and the only thing I've been disappointed with is the waterproof zip for the main compartment. Two thin rubbery/plastic flaps which run through the chuck and above the teeth of the zip (effectively water proofing it) are sandwiched and under lots of pressure. Mine started peeling off after a few days of use. A good idea, but a much tougher material is needed to last any length of time imo. Certainly not a deal breaker though as a full waterproof cover is stored under the bag which covers the whole bag in case of rain. That is the only negative thing I have to say about it.
Once you adjust the straps to fit your torso and waist it's very comfortable and offers great protection for your equipment. I'm sure the 300AW will accommodate a 300 F2.8 with body attached as a main lens, but would be too small for anything larger.
Best DJ.

Thank you. After I posted the question here I found 1 review where the main cons are:
- the zipper (as you describe)
- when leaving the bag on the floor, humidity passes to the interior of the bag
Not sure what to do now.

Hi Fabio. I can honestly say I've never experienced any humidity inside the bag before, (I keep a couple of silica gel packs in there most of the time) but I imagine leaving the bag on damp or wet ground could induce this. For such times as when the ground is wet I carry a bin liner and place the bag in that before setting it down. Other options are hanging it from a tripod hook or spraying the bag with scotchguard (waterproofing agent).
Good luck with your choice :)
