    Default Incoming!

During my last visit to Gallikos River estuaries last month I had some fun with two Eurasian Oystercatchers.
This one came unexpected and I didn't have time to set the exposure properly.
    Image created using a handheld 7D with a 500 f/4L and an 1.4x extender.
    1/4000sec, f/5.6 ISO 640, EV +0.67 (another 0.67 was added during PP).
Slight crop for composition, some noise reduction, levels, curves and a little boost in contrast.

nice incoming pose and good exposure and a good eye contact, I especially like the fanned tail. I might sharpen him a bit more but noise is already showing in dark feathers....

This is quite the special flight image. Love that flight pose with the fanned tail feathers and curled wing feathers.

I love these guys and an in-flight is a special treat. This was well-handled with the fanned feathers.

A wonderful flight shot! As mentioned above, the fanned tail feathers make it. If only that near wing was a bit more fanned out! Stunning!

Love everything about this but it lacks pop. I had lots of plans for this image but it turned out to be pretty simply. I ran an 80% layer of Auto Contrast (gasp!) on the whole thing then added a Regular Layer mask and toned down the brightest WHITEs with a 50% brush.... I usually don't go higher then 25% at most with Auto Contrast but this one was really flat.... Killer pose but I do agree with Miguel.

ps: you can post your images to less than 400kb. Yours was less than half that.
pps: Denise Ippolito taught me that the judicious use of Auto Contrast can do wonders while saving time.

Thank you all for your comments. I have never used Auto Contrast! It seems that I will be using it in the future. Thanks for the tip Artie :)

You are most welcome. Sometimes breaking the rules: "Never use Auto anything!--is the way to go. That plus Denise is a genius.
