    OK, granted that when armed with bread it is really not difficult to get so close to these guys. Still lots of fun to do so, especially at this time of year. This fella's eye was speckled more than the others. Hope you like the white on white!

    Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/640s., f/11, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, about 80%FF, some S/H to bring out the small details in the smooth whites (used 10% to highlights).

    Hey Daniel, I think the white on white is nice , the exposure looks spot on. There is so much detail in the ice, water and feathers on the beak, Nice sharpness throughout.

    It might be easy to get them close, but this is by no means an easy shot to get right - very well done

    It is a neglected species. I'm glad that you posted this nice looking portrait, Daniel.
    They are very nice birds on their own right.

    Even with white on white you got good separation between the head and the background!

    The detail throughout is top notch! Keep these coming!
