There were about six of them fighting it out the other day at the Baylands. It was hard getting them all in the frame without cutting off wings and limbs. It seems whenever the pose was good and in focus, I cut something important off. I think this was my favorite of the avocet fighting shots I got.
Terrific action here, esp in the front legs and water and mud spray of the front bird. I would crop it a little more from the bottom. Too bad on the back bird being in the way.
Love the action you got, including the flying water and mud drops, and great colours throughout. Two great poses and both birds being sharp is an awesome bonus. Bummer about the oof bird in the back, and if you have it I'd add back some canvas at left. Did you add the catchlight to the trailing bird?
Nice action and sharp. Much too tight for my tastes.... Can you post a wider crop? Eliminating the extra bird would not be too difficult.
