The environment is very similar to my merganser images, Karl. Ah.. the great Canadian North!
Nice image of this duck. I still wish they had called it ring billed duck instead of ring necked duck!
Good low POV and you have brought the purple sheen on the head out quite nicely.
Exposure looks good and nice and sharp.

I used to always wonder about this fine duck's nomenclature until I spent many good hours with a r.n.d. drake recently, revelling in its wonderful rusty-colored neck ring, visible only in the right light! A semi-secret mystery, a little bit like Tyrannus Tyrannus' good red-top...

Yep, whoever named it that probably had the keenest of eyes or had a dead specimen to study! The yellow eye looks great among the blues of the water and ice. Perhaps a tad much canvas below, but very pleasing overall.

One of my favorite ducks! That purple sheen on the head is hard to capture, but you did it here.

I'd say critical focus seems to be farther back on the duck, but since I'm the only one that mentioned it it may just be my eyes.

I'd take even more off the bottom. There are three eye reflections and I think keeping one is the way to go, IMO.

Sharp with a good exposure. Agree with Miguel about more off the bottom. With the relatively harsh light and the wavelet intersecting the top of the drake's head this one does not work especially well for me.
