Here is another frame from last week's quick shoot at Redwood shores. It's fun (and a good workout) tracking these little fast fliers.

    EOS 1DX, 600 II + 1.4X III f/5.6 1/3200sec ISO 1000. Handheld. Hope you like it

Always amazed by your work Ari. The slight head tilt towards the viewer makes the shot.

Nicely exposed, good detail, color and background. Like the birds wing position and alert expression too. Very nice indeed arash!

Amazing reflexes and hand-eye co-ordination to pull of a shot like this. Love the pose with the head turn, the nice water bg and that the water surface is showing.
I'm terrible with shorebird IDs (among other things), but I wonder if this is a juvenile Black Bellied Plover.

Well done as usual, Arash. I've tried capturing their Black-bellied cousins, and they do indeed fly fast. The head turn, and his proximity to the water make this one for me.

Nice image Arash, your skill is to be admired. No easy task with a 600 and a 1.4.

Thanks Sid, now that you mention I'm not sure either, their plumage is close as far as I can tell....

Outstanding photo, Arash. A real beauty. The bill is too heavy to be an AGP. I'd go with Black-bellied Plover.

Not many can pull off a shot like this. Very well done. Besides the perfect wing position, nice head angle, and critical sharpness ... I've got to say that I enjoy the sliver of water that is within the dof of the bird below. I think it adds that extra punch of dimension.

Wicked nice flight image of this species! Sharp, nicely composed, and a I like the wave definition on the bottom of the frame. If you shot this subject in a sequence...ID should be easy. Look under the wings if you have a wings up shot, and if there are black feathers in the wing pits...it's a black bellied plover....no black in the wing pits...it's probably a golden plover...though I would think American Golden Plover would be more unusual in your neck of the continent....
