    Default High-Key But Full-Color

On my first day at Fort De Soto the light was low and the winds were high. Overall the photography was rough! So I was excited to find a breeding-plumage Reddish Egret fishing in a patch of calm water. I really like the combination of a high-key BG and a splash of color.

So do I like it Doug, high key BG and the color in the egret. One of my favorite birds down here beautiful breeding colors. Your image gives me ideas on processing some of mine. Thanks for sharing.

One of the more creative images I've ever seen of this species...very well done from a technical standpoint...exposure, sharpness, colors, all good. What in the world are the two lines coming off the bird's beak and eye area? The image could use a slight clockwise rotation imo

Very painterly, Doug. Like the high key pastel quality and the shoots of shore grass add a nice balance.

Not sure what those lines are; I didn't do any cloning in that area, but it's obviously a processing artifact. I'll fix it and repost.

The lines were from a mask on a levels adjustment layer. Here's a version with the lines removed.

Really liked this one when you first showed it to me. Love the contrast between the colors of the bird and the high key BG. The grasses on the right really add to the image. Nice job seeing this one Doug.

Your second version still has the remnants of a line. I'd also blend the clipped portion of the background so the transition isn't as abrupt. If you make those changes, I think you've got a cracking shot.

It's a top rate shot Doug and love the artistic look with the grass and relections. Framing is great too along with the pastel colors. Very nice indeed!

Love the high key effect, the colors and the elements here. The grass adds nice color and balances the frame. Would CW rotate this a bit.

Simply gorgeous, Doug. I'm a fan of high-key, and the colors in this one really make it sing. Beautiful comp. I also wondered about CW rotation, but as I look at the reflections, it would only need a small fraction of a degree.

    Repost is great!
Lovely combination of colours and the bird's pose is killer. The weeds on right help balance the image and my only suggestion would be to try to fix the beak as it looks a tad over sharpened.
