    Default Laughing Kookaburra

One from last weekend. This is one of our iconic birds - their signature laughing call is synonymous with the Aussie bush. They are actually just a big bruising kingfisher!
Pretty dark conditions, so it was a juggling act getting a nice exposure with the BG, without the bird looking too flashed and a lower ISO to reduce noise.
Almost full frame - The bird is a bit centered - I didn't leave quite enough space on the right unfortunately :-(
    Thanks for looking, Greg.

    D800, 300 2.8, 1.7TC, f4.8, 1/60, 450ISO, fill flash.

Cracking detail, and as you already mention, a bit more room on the RHS would have been nice. I'd be tempted to clone out the small leaf closest to the bird on the right just to give a little more room around him. Good shot overall though

Greg take your point about being central which honestly I don't have a problem with, the whole scene looks great to me.

I like your balance of fill flash and ambient exposure. Detail is excellent, and I like the placement of the bird relative to the surrounding vegetation. I think the idea of cloning out the leaf closest to the bird is a good one. I don't mind the placement of the bird in the center of the frame, but I do think a little more room on the right and bottom would have been nice.

You took framing the subject to a whole new level here...pretty awesome! Did the bird just hop up there, or did you use some audio or some type of attractant?

Very nice and thanks for sharing this one! Lovely flash work, I like it as is. I don't mind the bird in the center and especially since it's surrounded buy those nice leaves. I suppose this one is in a feeder.
