    This image was taken from a pit blind at midday using a Nikon D7000 with a Nikkor 300mm F4.0 lens. The following settings apply: 1/2500 of a second, F6.3, ISO 1250 Spot metering, no flash

    Hi Wade, welcome to BPN!! Looks like the cardinal is suspended in mid air! Good exposure on the backlighting you had, and the image is well balanced with the perch at left. Looks like you have a nice BG too...but also looks like you ran into compression issues while downsizing the image as there seems to be some pixilation in there (I'm sure it is not there pre-resizing).

    Looking forward to more, and don't be shy to critique others' works too...all part of the fun and learning :-)
