One of my nemesis birds :( perfect perch, details but that grey blob in the BG is a bit distracting.

Gorgeous image with wonderful IQ. Fabulous lights. Love the look back pose, magical colours, spectacular perch with lovely flowers and great details.
Central placement of bird looks very nice. I have tried version without single flower on the right side and little crop ta top and bottoms, however will prefer the original comp.
BTW great exposure and superb BG, Jonathan.

    Regards,
    Satish.

Jonathan, a beautiful subject, beautifully captured! Very nice feather detail. Nicely exposed, with excellent head angle. The flowers are very sharp from left edge to right edge. The white and yellow and green of the blossoms tie together the white feathers and greenish-yellow background. The blob of blue sky in the lower left is a bit distracting.

I think this would be superb with a tighter crop to get rid of the blue in the LLC.
Great IQ and I love the perch you chose,

    Hey Jonathan,

It may just be my opinion, but I don't mind the grey blue in the bg. I think it ties well to the bird's back.

It could be my monitor (or the species), but I see a tint of blue on the black feathers.

    Stunning Shot!!!

I agree with Miguel about the blue but I think its the blue from the iridescence and I like it.

Mmm, I think I've never seen this species here before. Lovely pose, excellent eye contact and perch. I do too find the gray on BG a bit distracting.

Hi Jon, all Im going to say is that you have absolutely nailed this. Everything has come together, light, colours, sharpness and BG, and you have a lovely looking perch there too. Well captured.

Hi everyone, thanks very much for your comments as ever I eagerly await them. There is indeed a slight blue colouration on the tail feathers, I think there is slight iridescence and also this was one of those very rare days when we had sunshine and a blue sky! I did "correct" the blue using the white balance tool on both black and whites and when the whites are checked as correct white the blue is there if you see what I mean. The background is a willow tree that has just about got the new leaves and the grey bit is sky.

Absolutely stunning, Jon. Love everything about it. The beautiful flowery perch, the perfect pose/head turn, the exquisite IQ and the soft bg. Your DOF is perfect. This is masterfully executed image.
