    Default 2,5 Meters

    Hello,

I would like to share this image of an European Greenfinch (Carduelis chloris) with you. I call it 2.5m because this is the distance between us. I shoot this at my feeder last summer with my budget Telezoom the Tamron 200-500 and my D300. One of the things I like is the minimum focussing distance with these budget zooms.

    Technical Data

    D300 & Tamron 200-500: 1/400s - f/6.3 - 0ev - 500mm - ISO 1000 - AWB - center weighted metering - Aperture priority

A handsome portrait of this goldfinch. IQ looks very nice; can't complain about the "budget zoom". I'd be tempted to brighten the eye and surroundings just a bit, and crop up a few mm from the bottom to eliminate the bright white blur at the bird's breast.

Excellent sharpness and nicely controlled noise. I would clean up the beak and I'd crop away the bright horizontal line at the bottom of the frame.

    Hey Alex,

Nice detailed portrait. Agree with the comments from Doug and Bill - adjust your crop and a little clean up on the bird.

    Regards, Gerald

I agree with you to clean up the line and adjust the crop. But I leave the bill dirty ... it belongs to the bird. When brighten up the eye much more the IQ in that part goes unusable.
    Many thanks for your comments.
