I love Chinese Lanterns! They are one of the things that remind me of my childhood in upstate NY. I think you captured very well their delicateness and a gentle sense of motion as if in a breeze. Good interesting diagonal composition and lovely soft greenish-yellow bkgd that works beautifully with the oranges. I have read that an odd number of items is more visually interesting that an even number. But I think that bottom partially shown darker lantern really is important to this composition and grounds the other lighter lanterns. What is "w/e"?

Nancy, I think she means "weekend".
Jackie, I just love the softness and subtle treatment of this image. The composition works wonderfully and OOF elements in the background make a lovely understatement of the primary subjects. Nice!

Got it: w/e = weekend! This must be a text shorthand. I'm still just using my cell phone for talking

Very nice image Jackie. Nice soft feel and colors. The diagonal as Nancy notes is also good for the comp. I just got a 100 and can't wait to get out and try it out. Our flowers just bloomed this past week, so I hope to do so soon. But again, nice work ... as usual.

I find this image very inspiring Jackie, and the first words that came to my mind while viewing were " magical" and "illusion". Beautiful composition and colours, love the softness - this certainly works for me, minimally processed indeed but to achieve maximum effect
, stunning work!
Kind regards,

Beautiful! I just love the soft feel and the pastel colors. The composition is very pleasing too with the lanterns forming a gentle curve across the image. My only critique is that the image does look a little tight to me on the left side, but it is very well done!

I liked it when I saw the thumbnail. The colors and softness are wonderful, and the blur puts it over the top. Because my eye goes left to right, I'd flip it horizontally, but it's a great image the way it is.

I'm always surprised that a simple flip does make an image feel a bit different. I do like it this direction!

I think it works well (and I'm usually not fond of blurs). I like that the blur is slight. The soft colors go with the soft look. Both versions work for me. I like how you placed the stem in the frame, and the crop. You might consider lightening the darker area of the lowest lantern. Nice work.
