    Default Leopardess gaze.

    Attached Images Attached Images

A beautiful leopardess gazing across the woodland, being made aware of the presence of baboon, knowing that her 4/5 mth old cub was closeby hunkered down in a thicket.
She soon commenced her descent, not wanting to take any chances of her offsprings discovery.
This 3/4 year old female was the smallest adult I had ever seen and wouldn't have weighed more than 23kg.
The locals had named her "pygmy", certainly not befitting her beauty.
    Ndutu- Tanzania.

Beautiful shot of a stunning animal. The light is perfect, and the nailed on focus on the eyes really makes them stand out. The twig coming from the top left corner is a shame, but in reality, making any kind of criticism on a shot of this quality seems harsh to me. Excellent work

Hi Marc, I like the intriguing gaze, but loosing the 'greenish' cast within the subject makes a huge difference. Balancing out the various colours like Green, Yellow Red... in the various channels of HSL really helps and as an adjustment layer as you can target specific areas. Compared to the leopard landscape, loosing say an inch off the RHS wouldn't hurt.

Hi Marc - nice light, sharpness and dof. Great level pov too. As usual, Steve's suggestions are spot on for taking an already excellent image up a notch. I too see the color issues he has mentioned.

One of the most beautiful pics I've seen of a leopard in a long time, Marc! The sharpness & clarity in the eyes are perfect! I'd be very proud of a keeper like this, well done!

(PS: I don't see the color casts mentioned but take my word for it - Rachel and Steve DO have super abilities in that regard! )

    Hi Steve

Just before I posted this I checked the greenish cast on the chin area and fixed it in Nik white neutraliser, so it looks pretty close on all 3 of my cal monitors and yes I'm well aware of balancing out the various colour channels.
Looking at it again it could use just a tiny amount more green removal, but Nik WN is telling me it's OK?

Lovely shot Marc, I particularly like how the shallow DOF played out here, making us focus on her lovely face.
I see the green slightly showing up in the shaded parts of the leopard, easy to fix as you know (and easy to miss, I often do).
    Looking forward to more!

    Thanks Morkel,
3 cal monitors and I still get caught out on the dreaded colour cast

You captured a deadly intense look on her face! Very captivating and beautiful, with great details on her face. I appreciate when color casts are mentioned as this really helps educate my eyes to seeing those casts.

    Hi Marc,
very nice leopard portrait , looking very relaxed ,the cat.
Nice detail and overall tone and colors , but would agree with the others about the greenish cast, even if Mr NIK tells you are good to go…………
Love those eyes. well captured. I would loose some of the RHS , just my take , go to 5x4 ratio . Even if you prefer the 3x2.

    Very nice overall, TFS Andreas

    Hi Marc

I have never have the opportunity to capture a young female this close with your POV- stunning capture!!

Saw the green cast in OP, tried sat layer to remove sat on greens, but it didn't react with hue, sat or lightness?
Tried yellows next, was more responsive. Still too much greens on cheeks and under fore feet.
    Did small crop.

    No expert, WDYT?

Looking good Andre, personally would like a little more warmth in colour overall, but appreciate the effort.
