Grouse taken on a North Yorkshire moor. I make no apology for the mush in front of the bird in fact it was something I tried to achieve, and wish I could have got more.

Thanks for looking, all critique very welcome.

A great subject Keith ,composition looks a little awkward to me and the whites look a tad blown ,just my humble opinion Keith and a subject I have yet to capture and I travel N Yorks a lot

I like the low angle and mush in front, out of focus foreground elements can really add to an image if utilized correctly! The smooth bg and soft light are great too, but the red on the head and some of the whites on the tail are pretty much detail-less. Taking down the saturation on the reds and playing with the contrast and color balance should help, while a linear burn might be useful for the tail.

    Keep them coming!

Beautiful low angle and eye contact. I'm digging the fg/bg color too. You've extracted nice details in the dark feathers, but I agree with taming the white tail and the red a tad. I'd also watch out for the sharpening halo around the bird.

Superb subject and I like the blurred FG and the habitat throughout to go with it.

Hi Keith, lovely low perspective, and I like the deep blues on this fellow. The grouse does pop from the BG, and I agree with regards to the tail and reds on the head.

Nice shot of this strutting grouse. The exposure and detail looks great and the BG makes him stand out well. Well done.
