    Hi folks ,
would be interested if this species has ever been posted here ? If not i just throw one in.
This is a Lesser or Red Panda, a little animal that is , till today, taxonomically not really clear where to set it.Some say to the bears ,some say to the small bears others to the small cats. Now the have their own family , at the moment.

Taken this image in a local Zoo .Shot was taken in late afternoon in the warm winter sun, almost close to sunset. That`s why colors are so yellow overall.

    Techs :
    EOS 1Dx
    Ef 200-400 IS L + 2xTC at 732 mm
    Tripod

    F 8 / ISO 3200 / 1/400 sec ; should have taken f 10/11 for better IQ and a bit more DOF

Processed in Photo Ninja and PS CC ; large crop , about 40% of FF

Hope you like it, no tricks this time , C&C welcome as always.

    Cheers Andreas

This is a nice image - the first time I've seen one of these.

Hi Andreas - yes, I've posted at least one of these before: http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...ight=red+panda It's one of my favorite subjects at the Central Park Zoo when testing new equipment. I think a few others have been posted too, always captive for I guess obvious reasons.

Nice light, sharpness and I like the eating pose with the teeth visible. It's a cutie.

    TFS,
    Rachel

Very good capture of the face, and the pose with the foot extended and pulling food into its open mouth! Nice details. I really like the way the bamboo frames the face and the clean colors from the light.

Cute pose, lovely light and IQ...
I suppose traveling to see them in the wild could prove an expensive exercise!

Hi Andreas, have seen such little ones in the Zurich Zoo, when kids were smaller, long time ago!! Had to get them out to do something.

Lots said and your techs are as usual, nothing to add

Andreas I really like this, nice pose/framing and the 'Winter sun' has helps to give a lovely 'richness' overall. Yes f/10 may have helped, but think of SS and unless you were on a tripod????
