    I took this image of a preening female Goosander on Lake Windermere at the weekend.

    Nikon D7000, Sigma 70-200 f2.8 @200mm; 1/1600 sec, f4, ISO400. Adjustments, crop and sharpened in Lightroom.

    Very nice pose, Iain and I really like your bird placement. Coming in from the top and the bottom for a more pano-ish comp might also suit this pose. TFS.

    Ian, details well seen for flat light, colors are soft giving a peaceful feeling. Agree with pano-water expanse on top doesn't do much for the image-also how would you feel re: slight cw roatation?

    What works for me with this image is the realistic and not overstated coloring of the bird!

    Thanks for the comment. I agree a more pano crop would also work and that maybe a bit of CW rotation is needed.
