I offered suet to this Red-bellied and included some yummy meal worms as an accent :)

Excellent IQ and exposure. The bird angle is just right. Nice call on the DOF. Grey BG suits the bird and the reds pop nicely against it. Excellent image as is, but a bit more room around would work imo. The tail is very close to the bottom. I'd add a bit more to the bottom and the left, if available.

    Beautifully done, Missy.
Great to see the foot, the red belly and the grub being pulled out from the trunk is a big plus.
    IQ is very good.

    Hi Missy

This is a great woodpecker image and everything is visible that should be. The food adds to the image.
Im not familiar with the bird. Are the head on these birds so red? That is a fantastic colour.

I would like a looser crop, but well done in all aspects.

+1 for the looser crop, but a very nice image nevertheless. Looks like it was taken in a studio!

Missy, this is a lovely capture and well presented. +another for a looser crop. You certainly created a nice environment for this image, is the bg a backdrop of some sort? Might brighten the eye and tone down the red a touch, it seems "hot". -Regards-R

Well-timed and beautifully exposed, Missy! It's tough getting both the red belly and the head in one most pleasing image. Excellent work.

Excellent image exposure and detail is first class. For me just a little to tight in the frame.

Thank you everyone! I do appreciate the feedback, and I always use it to better my images. I loosened the crop and took down the red on the head a bit and now I really like what I see.
