wow that is a sharp snake, great detail in the face and eye. I think there is a spot in the background toward the left that could be fixed. The bright leaves in the front have a halo maybe or were moving in the wind I can't tell.

Nice one - sharp and clear with nice BG, Stuart! I think the 'ghost line' (or halo as Ashleigh calls it) is just a blur affect?

That's one seriously crisp shot! I usually like to see eye level shots, but maybe just lowering yourself a couple of inches and shooting up a little would have helped the composition. That said, I'd be happy with this in my collection

    Hi Stuart,
nice to see a snake .
Pretty sharp and good details in the snake.BG nice and diffuse which is good to make the subject standout nicely.
By not knowing exactly what you have done to the rest of the image (blurring or other fancy stuff ) i would back off on that . Try a different approach to make the subject stand out.

    Just my 2 cents

Lovely soft light and good DOF here Stuart - and yes good to see some new species popping up!
This would actually also count for our theme

I agree with Andreas that it seems the BG has been blurred more in post than how it came out in camera? I say "seems", as I may be mistaken. If so I would back off on that...
I'd perhaps also crop tighter in around the snake head?
