I like this one because of the pretty sky. Brought in by throwing fish heads onto the ice in the harbour.
Crop: Full frame vertical crop from horizontal. NR to BG, levels. increased saturation of BG by +7, DE to eagle at 3%, USM to JPEG

Looks like that "old" 1D IV is working just fine!

Great exposure to get detail in the dark and white feathers. I only wish the far wing was a bit more stretched, but there's not much you could do about it.

Lovely image Gail. It gives the eagle a big feeling of presence in the sky.

As you said pretty sky and very nice pose, Gail. The beak might need some darkening.

Hi I like the composition and the pose. The stripy blue background in the sky is really cool too. Great job :)

Nice bird, but that sky is special and a perfect background for him. Love the pose. Could see it with a tiny bit more at the top.

Gail, another great image. The sky is unique and sets this one off nicely. I too would like for just a little more room on top. Well done.

Lovely shot of a bald eagle in fligth Gail.
the range of colours on the plumage is captured very well and the sky is a great BG.
I'm not the first to say it but bit more room at the top would be nice.

Beautiful image of my favorite species! The colors of the sky is superb for the image! I also agree that a little bit more room on the top would be perfect!

Hi Gail, great incoming angled pose, and your choice of comp works well. You nailed the overall exposure on the underwings, sharp, and the yellow feet and beak pop nicely against your sky BG. The clouds add a lot too.

Glad you got your 100-400 out, its produced a gem of an image. I havent touched my 100-400 since getting the 300 F/2.8.

Nice one Gail, beautiful bird nicely shown. In Florida I struggle with exposure of eagles, there is such a contrast between the head and the body, you handle it well.
